Mick Philp Accepts Role as Men’s State League First Team Coach

I am delighted to announce that club stalwart Mick Philp has accepted our men’s first team coaching role. Mick has been with the club 19 years and is Curtin through and through. He understands our culture and has grown (insert short joke) as a coach as the club has grown. Mick has previously run our first team in the early days of the club, has worked in a co-coaching role with our first team, been the reserve team coach and for the last 5 years has been working with our Sunday league div 3 team, steering them to a league title in 2016.

During this time, with the support of the club, Mick has begun his advance coach education under the Asian Football Confederation program and has completed his course work for his C License.

Professionally Mick runs his own psychology practice bringing more useful attributes to the club. He will take charge of football matters for the 2018 and hopefully beyond. By his own admission state league will be a step up for him, but both myself and Greg Richardson have moved into new roles to further improve our state league step up and will ensure Mick gets an excellent level of support.

The selection process for the role was a hard one, with two internal candidates and the club is currently in talks with coaches, not previously mentioned, from the 2017 State League set up with offers for various roles within the club. When this process has been finalised I will be able to up date you on the full team.

I hope you can join in congratulating a true legend of CUFC and join us on the exciting road ahead.
