Curtin Names It's Stars

Curtin University Football Club named their stand out players for 2015 at their sold out awards night on Saturday evening. The big winners were Nicole Mcvicar, who was named Curtin’s Female State League Player of the Year, and Eddie Tikoft who won the same award for the men’s side. Up and coming youngster Jim Wallace was also recognised for an outstanding season being named the under 18 player of the year.

Head coach Liam Pollock was full of praise for Mcvicar, a new signing this year who plays as a box to box midfielder. “Nicole quickly demonstrated her talent, positive attitude and leadership capabilities. She grew to become a key part of our team and she has an eye for goal, including the spectacular, which is an added bonus” he said.

On Wallace’s season Under 18’s coach and Curtin’s Technical Director was full of praise for a “young leader with so much potential.” “The team started the season brightly and outperformed last year’s season but more importantly continued to develop into outstanding young men” he went on to say.

Club President Campbell Ballantyne said of Tikoft’s year “Eddie was Mr Consistency this year and really stepped up in key moments for us.” In regards to the season’s results he waxed philosophically about next year after commenting on a squad decimated by injury he pointed out that as “players came back into the team we achieved some very promising results and are optimistic about next year.”

Ballantyne was also full of praise for the clubs volunteer workforce. “The club has had a huge year off the pitch having completed a formal merger process between the junior and senior sides. The results of this will follow through for years to come.”
