Campus Sporting Facilities Infrastructure Master Plan

All

I received this letter from the university today. Great news feel free to share your thoughts and offers to help make it as good as possible are all welcome.

Campbell,

Curtin University has now commenced a process of evaluating and determining the long term sport and active recreation infrastructure requirements to service the Curtin community. The advice to consultants is that the master planning process should have a 30 year horizon. As a part of the project control group, I will be instructing the consultant team to engage and consult with our tier 1 clubs as an integral part of the exercise.

This is a rare opportunity and I would encourage clubs to engage your club executive to consider the long term strategic direction, future needs and facility requirements for your sport into the future. This may also be an opportunity for clubs to collaborate and discuss your plans for possible innovative solutions to challenges moving toward 2020 and 2030. Hopefully the process will uncover a range of valuable projects, however I must emphasise that there is no consideration nor allocated funds for any development at this time.

It will serve the sport and recreation culture at Curtin University well if your club is prepared for the approach from the consultant team. Your recent previous work in developing the Curtin club culture, supporting the 2014 clubs review, working hard in encouraging representative teams at the Western University Games and Australian University Games and developing integrated, women’s and junior programs has been strategically critical in gaining support from the University for this investment. I would therefore encourage you all to have these items in mind when presenting to the consultants.

Regards,

David Russell
