The group only narrowly missed out on promotion last year but with the addition of some more depth and an outstanding season from captain Simone Sichel the title was won with one game to spare.

The title has however been founded on a rock-solid defensive record with new signing Ben Gorvin proving a wall in between the posts for Curtin. Ben’s impressive shot-stopping, as well as his distribution from the back line, has been integral to the successful season. The evergreen duo of Justin McCabe and Rhys Hanlon, as well as Francesco Gerace and youngster Tim Claessen have combined as a solid defensive unit to provide formidable protection for Gorvin.

The result is not down to these players alone however as 30 individuals have graced the field for this team this year. The depth developed by reserve team & assistant coach Craig Pederick and nurtured by reserves captains Luke Eckel and Xavier Cornwall through the reserves squad and occasional use of players supporting from State League teams has given Philp the ability to fill positions when players were unavailable.
