The update is at the bottom of the article

Afternoon all,

The news we all thought might be coming will be released via a media statement from FFA within the hour. All community-based football in Australia will be suspended until April.

I have been called by footballwest to confirm this. As a result, all club activities are suspended until we get the green light from governing bodies. This means as of today club training is cancelled and so are all matches, including friendlies.

I am sure you are full of questions on what happens next in particular with fees. On the call with Footbwest COO I strongly encouraged him to have a plan that involves being able to refund playing fees and when we know what the season looks like to relaunch the registration system. It was simply too early for footballwest to know the answer to this.

From a club point of view, we understand our membership is full of students who have serious uncertainty in casual employment and will look at what we can do if the governing body does not automatically process refunds. The main challenges from the club are volunteer labour to process any and covering costs of pre-season etc. I will be doing all I can to make sure none of our members are out of pocket for services that cannot be delivered.

Stay safe and listen to the health professionals

Campbell

20/3/20 – Update Tonight the committee has empowered the President and Treasure to put in place an option for our members to de-register and get refunds for fees for 2020, given the financial stress our members may be under and the uncertainty of the length of the 2020 season. This process will be communicated more clearly by Tuesday the 24th of March. We are currently working out the best way to execute this. We do know it will involve a manual process using volunteer labour so we will be running to strict deadlines. Please keep an eye on your alerts.

To be clear FFA still are working to the date of the 14th of April, but we are in an uncertain time. When the 2020 football season takes place CUFC will be 100% on board but the committee will set pricing appropriate to the length of the season and costs incurred.

In more positive news, check out our Facebook page for the current 100 juggle challenge and keep training while in social isolation. If any member would like to participate but doesn’t have access to a ball please contact a coach we will happily lend you one on a sign-out basis
