Update on return to football

You would have read on Friday that Footballwest has now allowed its member clubs to return to some forms of training within the state government guidelines of no more than 10 people per group and maintaining a 1.5 m gap at all times. Great news and an essential step for us to soon get back together; however, we are not quite ready to reannounce sessions and times.

Before we can formally use the grounds, we need to confirm bookings with Curtin University and/or Town of Victoria Park. Both of these processes started today and are likely to have some answers tomorrow. TOVP have a meeting late morning tomorrow where they can approve our use. The university has reduced hours of the sports staff, and unfortunately, no one is working until Tuesday to give us an answer.

Until we have this in place, we cannot resume any official club training sessions. However, we encourage our members to keep up the skills and fitness training you have been doing, and of course, members can now do that in small groups rather than individually. We also encourage members do download the COVID safe tracing app ASAP which will aid the return to full football.

On other matters, Footballwest is meeting with relevant standing committees this week to present options on return to competitions.

Our club committee will be meeting regularly over the coming weeks and once we know what a season looks like we will be able to publicise prices for 2020 memberships.

Thanks don’t’ forget to support club sponsors and hope to see you all soon

Campbell
