WNPL Head Coach Dom Gangemi excited to start Season 2022 planning

7 Oct 2021 by Michael Waller

Our WNPL Head Coach, Domenico Gangemi (or Dom to his many friends and players), is really looking forward to kicking off the preparation for the 2022 season.

Mid-way last season the club was dealing with a difficult time due to numerous injuries. Dom joined the club as our WNPL Head Coach to help provide much need experience and stability. It wasn’t a lot of time to make changes, but we certainly got to see the exciting style of soccer he promotes and the profession ethics he brings to the table.

Dom is a former semi-professional football player with 35+ years of experience, both locally and internationally. With a Diploma in Sport Psychology, current Professional “UEFA A” Licence and Master’s Degree in Strength and Conditioning in-progress, Dom brings a wealth of soccer expertise to help drive the club strategic goal of promoting the professional women’s game and continue our women’s teams journey up the WNPL ladder. Players joining Curtin will benefit from his extensive expertise in both the physical and mental development of athletes for elite sports performance.

Talking to Dom yesterday he had this to say about the 2022 season and him continuing his role of WNPL Head Coach:

“I’m very excited to continue my job at Curtin University Football Club, especially now having the opportunity to plan the 2022 season from scratch and build my team, including running a full pre-season. The club provides me with all I need as a head coach (GPS tracking system, strength and conditioning facilities, stats manager, and video match analysis) to help me achieve my goal of developing our local talent. My Assistant Chez Checchi and I can’t wait for the season to start so that we can share our knowledge and experience with any senior players that come down to be part of this great club.”

Training dates will be published shortly (with first sessions due to commence early November). However, if you are interested in joining Curtin University to learn from our great head coach please send through your expression of interest to wnpl@curtinfootball.com.
